6 Summer Hairstyle Ideas

We've all had that situation where we felt our hair could no longer satisfy our needs to fight against its frizziness, flatness and messiness. Yes, especially during this time of year, the humidity has our hair by the root and has no intention of obeying hair ties or bobby pins. (Am I the only one who has her hair ties snap completely in half while creating a top knot?)

And then there's the idea we have that our hair looks dull and needs a new change to keep the 'spunk alive'. (Do people still say 'spunk'?)

Well, I have six hairstyle ideas that can proudly keep you cool, cute and yes spunky during the summer. Let's get started!

#1 changing parts. If you want to change up your look but don't want to go too extreme, first ignore #6, and then simply change your hair parting. This easy baby step can go a long way in changing your facial appearance.

#2 hair braiding. I like how braiding hair is like creating a pattern, an accessory, out of your own hair with the plus of getting it out of your face. From fishtail to french braid, it's a pretty hairstyle that can be dressed down or up.​​

#3 top knotting. Okay, this is definitely where the spunk comes in. Top buns are adorable and easy to manage when dealing with the heat. But, we now don't have to put all our hair up. When you can't decide whether or not you want your hair up or down, the half down-top knot hairstyle is super convenient. There's also the situation of when only your bangs look gnarely and need to take a break from it all in a bun.

#4 adding flowers. Spring and Summer: the time when flowers are blooming out of the wazooh. Why not put some use to them and weave them into your braid or bun? If you want something to last interminably, try purchasing tiny fake flowers and applying them the same way. Buying flower crowns work also. The bright colors will keep you looking high spirited, goddess like and elegant.

#5 cutting split-ends. A specific fashion trend going on this summer is geometric and minimalistic harmony (something Johannes Vermeer would love; am I right art historians?) This clean cut will leave you polished and looking chic. Plus, it' healthy to get a hair cut every now and then.

#6 coloring hair. This definitely may be the most extreme of hairstyles I have for you. This pastel hair trend is going around and making everyone think they're unicorns all of sudden. I feel like this style is specifically for the summer in respect to school and work regulations; however highlights, ombre or any other natural color can work just as well.
