French Thrifting

I really prefer thrifting not only for its sustainable and reusable aspects but also for its somewhat historical charm. Each garment has lived another life before winding up in your hands. I don’t always find something when I thrift, but that just makes the moment when I do find something all the more special. I mentioned awhile back that I purchased a thick long green coat produced in Berlin for only twenty Euros. As great of a find that was, I spent almost forty-five minutes looking around that particular thrift store to get it. In this post, I’ll be writing about thrift store gems in Paris, at least the ones that I have found.

Kiliwatch Paris. First walking in to this concept store, I was put off guard to see that the place looked like a normal retail store. In the front section of the store, it is stocked with brand clothing and accessories, nothing used or vintage. However, when you continue you way to the middle and back of the store, you then are surrounded vintage clothing. There is a lot to look around in the store, vintage wise, so be prepared. It is on the trendier side compared to Brooklyn, New York's L Train Vintage thrift store, if that makes sense. The interior is very cool to look at; do look up at the ceiling if you ever visit! I managed to to find a Spring/Summer dress for thirty Euros. I also bought a unique scarf as a birthday gift for a friend from there later on. To me personally, it's more of a place to find signature items or statement pieces. It is though a place you should check out at least once.

FREE'P'STAR. This location, so far, has been my favorite place to thrift. It is both great with price and quality that I am able to find something here almost everytime I go. For example, my green coat. It is still one my favorite purchases from Paris. It is definitely a place you have to dig through because there is a large selection for such a small space. The most grundgy of the thriftstores I'm writing about in this post, which I is why I like it. A go-to, I must say.

Chinemachine. A friend from university recommended this place to me, and I dugg the vibe as soon as I entered inside of it on a Saturday night. It is a mix between Kiliwatch and FREE'P'STAR in terms of interior, target of demographic, and products. The items for sell were on the grundgy side, but still marketed to hipster demographic of someone who would shop at Kiliwatch or the L Train. I hope that makes sense. It has a great music playlist. I came out with new music added to my spotify rather than actual purchases from the store, actually. It's still a great place to check out on your way to Sacré-Cœur during the daytime.

La Marelle. If you're looking to thrift for more high fashion and luxury ware, look no further than La Marelle. You'll find a sweater with an embroidery of a swan over the shoulder. That kind of thing. The interior of the shop is what I actually like most about it. Light and airy. When the sun is out, the light shines through the windows of the second floor, glissoning the clothing ever so nicely. It is placed right in the middle of Vivienne Gallery in the 2nd Arrondissment which is a very pretty part of Paris in my opinion. La Marelle is a great place for window shopping.

What are places you like to thrift or shop at? I would love to know. Haven't written that much about fashion in a while. When in Paris, I guess.
